Weyoung is the songwriting wing of Hwa Chong Institution (College)'s Chinese Society CCA. Comprising of dedicated and passionate youths, our mission is to promote the joy of creative expression to the student population while also preserving the school's rich cultural heritage by fostering a love for the Chinese language.

Over the years, we have proudly served as Hwa Chong Institution's premier platform for aspiring musicians, helping our members achieve prestigious accolades in numerous national competitions such as 新空下, SGSW, and the SYF Youth Station Project. Many Weyoung alumni have continued their songwriting journey far beyond the club door, with some even pursuing music as a career, being successfully signed into professional record labels.

 

We also organise 写一首歌给你 (XYSG), which is an annual songwriting competition for students from Hwa Chong Institution and Nanyang Girls' High School, thus providing opportunities for budding songwriters across two campuses and three sections to shine. Through regular performing opportunities during busking sessions and concerts, we also ensure that our members' songs are heard by the rest of the school, where our stories continue to resonate with fellow students.
